Sadratu’l Flame Tree by Fiona Elizabeth

Dimensions: 8" x 10"

Materials used: Watercolour on cold-press paper

Fiona Elizabeth is an Art Therapy graduate student and emerging artist in her hometown Ottawa. She is inspired by the beauty of nature and creates watercolour and acrylic artwork, often weaving in metaphors drawing from poetry and various spiritual sources, including the Bahá’í Faith.

This tree embodies the spirit of courage and resilience, as a flame continues to grow and gather light. It evokes for me the words of Bahá’u’lláh, speaking to the power of love we can draw upon to overcome hardship in life: “Let thy soul glow with the flame of this undying Fire that burneth in the midmost heart of the world, in such wise that the waters of the universe shall be powerless to cool down its ardour.”
