Lignans are compounds that form the building blocks of plant cell walls. They contain phytoestrogens that help regulate the body’s estrogen production. When we eat plant foods the lignan compounds are converted in our intestines by good bacteria to produce a form that the body can assimilate. Enterolactone—the primary lignan metabolite (a substance produced by metabolism) that circulates in our blood—produces weak estrogenic activity. Dozens of reports have revealed that high levels of enterolactone in our blood help to reduce risk of breast, prostate and colon cancers, and cardiovascular disease. Studies have also shown that high levels of lignans can support healthy weight and glucose metabolism, reducing the risk of insulin sensitivity, metabolic syndrome and diabetes.
Benefits for women and men
My name is Rosemary & I am a 2x breast cancer survivor and a menopause symptom sufferer due to the side effects of the estrogen blocking drug Tamoxifen.
Over the past year, I have gone from this arsenal of holistic supplements
To this (plus alkalizing to a 7.2 - 7.6ph)
In large part because of this: Fountain of Life
Before we get into the details, a few things:
A disclaimer: Fountain of Life is not a medication or a cure for illness. The science behind lignans show that there are benefits at a cellular level which may provide support to traditional medicines & treatments.
If you have a coniferous tree allergy, this may not be the product for you.
High concentration lignans are also not recommended for expectant or breastfeeding mothers.
For those on medication, it is recommended that you speak with your doctor about lignans prior to taking a high concentration antioxidant.
I am sharing the Fountain of Life product that has had a tremendous impact in my life so that you too can experience it's possible benefits to your health. Yes, I make a few bucks on each sale which just goes back into my own health maintenance.
I have been using FOL for one year and have experienced the following...MY TAMOXIFEN INDUCED MENOPAUSE SYMPTOMS HAVE REDUCED FROM HAVING MAJOR HOT FLASHES 3-5 TIMES A DAY TO HAVING MINOR HOT FLASHES 3-5 TIMES A WEEK. NOT ONLY HAS THE FREQUENCY DRAMATICALLY DROPPED, BUT SO HAS THE INTENSITY & ENDURANCE OF EACH SESSION!!!
I can not speak to the benefits FOL may or may not be having on helping to prevent the return of cancer, nor the anti-viral benefits it may or may not be having during this outbreak that is affecting us all. The science speaks strongly to the possibilities. I choose to add FOL to my traditional treatments in addition to some lifestyle changes all that help with lowering the impact of oxidative stress & inflammation...on top of my eternal optimistic outlook.
With all this being said, I have conducted over 50 hours of research into plant lignans over the past year and have seen a consistent powerful emerging pattern, particularly as it applies to menopause symptoms and breast cancer (because these are the 2 main things that have impacted my life...at lease pre-COVID 19)!
Specifically to menopause, according to plant lignan & menopause studies (see below), you have a bit better than a 50/50 chance of it working for your menopausal symptoms. I'd say that is worth a try!!
Counterbalancing oxidative stress (which leads to free radicals attacking healthy cells), with plant lignans...the MOST powerful antioxidant.
Oxidative Stress/Free Radicals
The amount of lignans required will be solely dependent on your personal exposure level to oxidative stress causing free radicals.
Common causes of Oxidative stress:
Fountain of Life offers 17x potency lignans vs flaxseed. Flaxseed is the most widely recognized lignan source but FOL is a much higher potency and offers a more efficient delivery to your cells.
Flaxseed has been recognized for years as a great source of lignans. Its major lignan is secoisolariciresinol diglucoside. It must be ingested and its transformation in our body to mammaliam lignans occurs in the latter stages of our small intestine, around the ileocecal area. There is a component of the SDG lignan that must be cleaved in order for the body to use this lignan source. It is not always complete and the SDG lignan is not always absorbed properly. The Norwegian Spruce contains the lignan 7-hydroxymatairesinol which is readily absorbed by the body and is fully utilized. FOL contains this lignan, SDG and a number of other lignans in its formulation which is important as research is finding that a variety of lignans is good for the individual's health. When comparing the two lignans, there is about 300 mg of lignans for every 100 ml of flaxseed. Compared to FOL, Fountain of Life contains over 7200 mg of lignans in 100 ml

Fountain of Life should not replace other lignan sources as those other sources do offer other nutritional benefits, particularly those that will also assist to bring your body's ph from acidic levels (less than 7.0ph) to alkaline balanced levels of 7.2 to 7.6ph. Another blog post about this is forthcoming.
You can not overdose on lignans. The body uses what it needs and discharges the rest. The amount of lignans required will be solely dependent on your personal exposure level to oxidative stress causing free radicals.
Where menopause symptoms & breast cancer are concerned, here are the top abstracts and articles studying lignans.

Many research papers are showing that women’s healthy estrogen is protecting them & may explain why more than 50% LESS (up to 60% in some countries) women than men are becoming infected and dying from the Coronavirus. Bonus for women everywhere! But what if you don’t have healthy estrogen, or perhaps no estrogen at all due to a hysterectomy or taking post breast cancer estrogen blocking drugs? Aside from all the obvious preventative measures that we should all be undertaking, one potential option is plant based lignans.

Another beneficial FOL application:
I add a few drops to my morning moisturizer which is straight up goat milk facial moisturizing cream from an Ontario goat farm/producer. It is great for fighting the oxidative stress impacts on aging skin!
